stamps

What do you do with all those Christmas postage stamps – or any stamps you collect throughout the year.  Well here’s an idea, you can

  • Take them into your local Oxfam shop – any country
  • Send them to Save the Children, 1 St Johns Lane, London EC1M 4AR
  • Send them to RNIB Supporter Care Team, Falcon Park, Neasden Lane,

              London, NW10 1RN

Ideally the stamps should be sorted into packs of first class and above, second class and below, foreign, etc.  Also leave a lot of envelope all around the stamp – i.e. do not cut or tear too close to the stamp’s edge and include postmark if possible.  That makes them a bit more valuable.

Jan and David Lincoln

would like to make contact with Tom & Frances Wyatt

' I lost contact with them after their home burned. Although they sent me a Christmas card, they forgot to put a return address on it. The Wyatts retired to the a small village near Stratford Upon Avon. David and I would appreciate any help in locating them. Thank you.

A group from AOC joined in MADD (Make A Difference Day) in which volunteers worked on community projects in The Netherlands. AOC sponsored the paint (and of course the attractive bodywarmers) for the project and they gave up their free time for the day.

The group of 20 from AOC worked with Kommunika Neighboorhood Center in Scheveningen (part of the Hague).  It is a small, independent non-profit community center which offers facilities and various activities to the local children and teenagers. Through their efforts its garden and playground got a much needed facelift. This involved:

·        Laying new grass in the playground area.

·        Painting the walls surrounding the garden with basic colors (background)                       so the kids can later paint their own murals.

·        Painting benches, swing and storage hut.
